Non-reducing disaccharide formed by two glucose molecules, naturally present in fungi, yeasts and some plants. It is used as a humectant in cosmetics and as a stabilizer of proteins and other biomolecules in pharmaceutical and biotechnological formulations, in addition to industrial stabilization applications.
