Sodium salt of methylparaben, water-soluble, used as an antimicrobial preservative in aqueous formulations. It makes it easy to incorporate the preservative into the aqueous phase without prior heating or dissolving. It is used in cosmetics, cleaning products, pharmaceuticals, veterinary products, nutraceuticals and foods, within the limits of applicable regulations.
