Salt of the biguanide chlorhexidine with gluconic acid, usually handled in aqueous solution and acting as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent. It is used in antiseptics, disinfectants, hand and surface hygiene, mouthwashes and, where regulations allow, as a preservative in cosmetic products.
